Introduction

Located in the Hongdae (Hongik University) area, Café Gio Cat is a café for cats. Opened in March 2006, the café has over ten breeds of cats (Russian Blue, Persian, Scottish Fold, and more) that have free range of the café. The entrance fee is 8,000 won for adults (above 20 years of age) and 7,000 won for children (below 20 years of age). Each entrance fee includes a drink of coffee, juice, or tea (discounted refills available).

After paying the entrance fee, visitors are asked to review the rules (available in English in addition to Korean) and are given a board that introduces each cat (names and D.O.B.). There are cats lounging everywhere to pet or to play with, but make sure you wait for sleeping cats to wake up before teasing them with the toys provided! Some cats are even up for adoption (check at the café for details).
